Profesor Javier Collado Ruano hablando sobre Educación para la Ciudadanía Mundial (UNESCO)
En este contexto de globalización, hay un creciente interés en la Educación para la Ciudadanía Mundial (ECM), señalando un cambio en el rol y propósito de la educación para conseguir un mundo más justo, pacífico, tolerante e inclusivo entre sociedades. La Iniciativa de Educación Global Primero del Secretario de las Naciones Unidas, lanzada en 2012, han sido un instrumento para aumentar la concientización de la importancia de la ciudadanía mundial para construir un futuro mejor para todos y todas. UNESCO, en respuesta a la demanda incrementada de los Estados Miembros para apoyar el empoderamiento de los aprendientes para convertirse en ciudadanos globales responsables, ha hecho de la ECM una de sus llaves educativas objetivo para los próximos ocho años (2014-2021).
El profesor Javier Collado Ruano fue invitado a participar en Rio+20 después de que su propuesta: «EL VALOR DE LA EDUCACIÓN GLOBAL COMO MOTOR DE CAMBIO PARA ERRADICAR LA POBREZA Y CONSEGUIR UN DESARROLLO SOSTENIBLE«, fuera una de las más votadas entre la sociedad civil de todo el mundo. El profesor Collado ha viajado por más de 50 países en los últimos años para crear propuestas innovadoras para la «Educación para la Ciudadanía Mundial» propuesta por la UNESCO.

In this context of globalization, there is growing interest in global citizenship education (GCED), signaling a shift in the role and purpose of education to that of forging more just, peaceful, tolerant and inclusive societies. The United Nations Secretary-General’s Global Education First Initiative (GEFI), launched in 2012, has been instrumental in raising awareness of the importance of global citizenship to building a better future for all. UNESCO, in response to the increasing demand from its Member States for support in empowering learners to become responsible global citizens, has made GCED one of its key education objectives for the next eight years (2014-2021).
Prof. Javier Collado Ruano was invited to attend Rio+20 after his proposal «THE VALUE OF GLOBAL EDUCATION AS AN ENGINE TO PROMOTE POVERTY ERADICATION AND TO ACHIEVE A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT » was the most voted by civil society around the world. Prof. Collado has been traveling around more than 50 countries in the last years in order to create innovative proposals for the «Global Citizenship Education» proposed by UNESCO.
